Ricky’s Story

Ricky was our 2021 Valedictorian. We’d love for you to get to know him and some of his story! Here are some interview questions he answered for our community.

What was the biggest challenge you overcame when you were at Brookstone?

My biggest challenge that I overcame was being shy. I was always that kid who would never talk unless spoken to. The Brookstone environment showered me with so much joy that I overcame that challenge.

What was your proudest moment?

My proudest moment was graduating from Brookstone. I knew that I just finished a chapter in my life and I knew that I wasn’t done yet. I have so much more to accomplish in life.

Tell us about the people who influenced you the most.

The person that influenced me the most was God. I’ve been a lot closer with him these past 3 years than I ever did my whole life. It is always a pleasure to be called one of God’s children.

How would you hope to stay connected with Brookstone in the future?

I hope to stay connected by volunteering for the summer camp or even the afterschool program.

Here is Ricky’s graduation speech:

Partner with us to provide many more children with a top-notch, Christ-centered education at an affordable price.

Every child is an image-bearer of God with the potential for a joy-filled future of leadership and service. Many Charlotte children are stuck on the wrong side of the opportunity gap. Be a part of the solution!
