Brookstone is needed now more than ever…
Over the past few months, the national media has reported many stories about the learning loss students experienced during the pandemic. Educators predicted it would be bad. Sadly, this year’s exam results revealed pandemic learning loss was worse than they expected.
Charlotte didn’t fare better than other cities. Results from the end of the 2021 school year show less than 30% of grade 3 students to be at or above grade level. Students of color fell even farther behind with only 16% Black and Hispanic students at or above grade level for reading*.
We’re grieved by these reports. As image bearers of God, every child deserves an outstanding education. It’s why Brookstone exists.
Praise the Lord, in the midst of these reports, we have good news.
Brookstone students weathered the pandemic storm well. 84% of our students in 3rd-5th grade are at or above grade level for reading and 95% for math. Because of your investment, they are doing great.
In light of the education crisis, it is clear that Brookstone is needed now more than ever. As we finish 2022, we are working to raise $700,000 for the students we serve today and in preparation for 2023 growth. Every contribution makes a difference! Here are ways your giving can help this year:
- A gift of $1,000 will help fund curriculum for one class
- A gift of $2,500 will fund one of our Upper School sports teams
- A gift of $5,000 will fund 5 MacBooks for our faculty
- A gift off $10,000 will fund our music elective which meets 2x a week in grades K-8
