Early Education Program

Brookstone’s Early Education Program consists of three levels: Junior Kindergarten (JK), Transitional Kindergarten (TK), and Kindergarten.

Applications for the Early Education Program will be taken for children who fall between the ages of 3 years 6 months to 6 years 6 months by May 31.

2026-2027 Timelines for Admission and Testing

October 15th

Applications open for new families.

February 15 - March 30

Testing dates will be set for students based on their age groups on a first-come, first-served basis for available testing openings. The appointments will be for 2 ¼ hours.

It is important that parents/caregivers understand that children must be on time for the appointment. Children coming more than 15 minutes after the start time will not be able to be tested on that day. Rescheduling will occur only if an opening is available.

April

Additional testing dates may be added if openings remain in JK, TK, and Kindergarten programs.

By the end of April, the admission testing team will make recommendations for acceptance to the three programs. Each recommendation is made after carefully considering the child’s age, alongside their overall developmental readiness. Placement decisions are based on what will best support each child’s social-emotional growth, learning readiness, and academic needs.

Junior Kindergarten

Junior Kindergarten is a play-based, pre-academic year for 4 year olds focused on foundational skills, including language, number sense, fine motor skills, and social emotional growth. Students build readiness through play and structured classroom routines.

Transitional Kindergarten

Transitional Kindergarten is a bridge year for children who are age-eligible for Kindergarten but need more time to grow socially, emotionally, academically, or in stamina and independence. Students continue building academic skills through play-based learning while developing self-regulation, confidence, and readiness for Kindergarten.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten focuses on building a strong foundation in literacy, math, social emotional learning, science, and other core areas. Students develop greater independence, self management, collaboration, and problem solving skills while preparing for the next stage of their education.

We can’t wait to meet you!
