Steve HallHead of School
Mr. Steve Hall received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Grove City College in Pennsylvania. He comes to us with administrative and leadership skills acquired through 20 years' experience working in management and engineering. He has also honed his leadership and strategic planning skills through his involvement with a humanitarian mission ("Won-By-One to Jamaica"), his church, and his advocacy work with Thompson Child and Family Focus. As a certified Therapeutic Foster Parent himself, Mr. Hall is known in the Charlotte community as a leader who has a heart and passion for helping underprivileged children.
Deborah Preston has a passion for Christian education that has led her to serve for more than 25 years in numerous churches and Christian schools as teacher, Christian Education Director, and now principal at Brookstone Schools. She has taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels and brings a wealth of knowledge to Brookstone. She views her work as service and her day to day interactions with students, teachers, and parents as ministry. Her love for the Lord Jesus Christ continues to be the driving force behind her tireless dedication to furthering Christian Education.
Suzanne WilsonDirector of Advancement
Suzanne Wilson has served at Brookstone since its foundation in 2001. She has a BA from Emory University, a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Glasgow in Scotland, and a Certification in Learning Disabilities from UNC-Charlotte. As Brookstone's principal administrator for the first eight years, Suzanne holds deep convictions about holding all children and faculty to high standards of academic excellence and Christian character.
Eric MaustSystems and Project Director
Eric Maust graduated from Grove City College with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He came to Charlotte and interned at Brookstone through the Charlotte Fellows program in 2015. He coordinates systems, operations, and IT at the school.
Shannon Montgomery graduated from UNCC with a BA in Elementary Education and has more than a decade of teaching experience in both public and private school settings. Shannon has a passion for teaching kindergarten and is excited to be a part of Brookstone with its mission of equipping children academically, socially and spiritually. She is blessed to be a mother of two children.
Bonnie, a Charlotte native, has more than 30 years of teaching experience. She loves teaching by the classical method so that children may become lifelong learners, who know how to think well and express themselves effectively. Bonnie wants to lead her students to discover God’s glory in everything they study. She is married to Tim, her husband of 22 years, and has one son, Caden, who is a freshman in college.
Jai’Eisha Huntley1st Grade
Jai’Eisha Huntley graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She has had a passion for teaching from a very young age and it warms her heart when children realize they are all capable of learning and can use what they learn to reach their overall goals in life.
Mary SnokeFirst Grade
Mary Snoke graduated from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Interdisciplinary Studies. Her love of teaching motivated a varied pursuit in experience including therapeutic horseback riding programs through Easter Seals UCP; private tutoring; and structured classroom instruction with Prek - 1st grade students. Mary joined Brookstone in obedience to God’s calling to share her love of God, passion for education, and zeal for outdoor adventure with urban students. Children are one of her greatest delights and she is grateful the parents share their most precious treasures with her.
Lilla Cappellari2nd Grade
Lilla Cappellari graduated from Ole Miss with a BA in Elementary Education. She was a part of the Charlotte Fellows Program in 2015, which lead her to volunteer at Brookstone and subsequently begin her career here. She has a passion for walking alongside children as they grow both spiritually and academically.
Kathryn Lewis2nd Grade
Kathryn Lewis hails from Ann Arbor, Michigan. She and her husband moved to Charlotte in 2018. Kathryn studied Classical Education, French, and the Liberal Arts at Hillsdale College, and has taught 3rd grade and K-5 French at charter schools. She has also taught at summer camps in Detroit, English in the Middle East, and piano lessons to many students. She loves Brookstone's mission and feels honored and humbled to be a small part of it.
Kathy Acuff3rd Grade
Kathy Acuff graduated from David Lipscomb University with a BA degree in Elementary Education and a double minor in computers and math. She has lived in Charlotte for over 14 years and is the proud mother of three boys. Kathy has a passion for teaching and working with children to help them discover their God-given gifts.
Lauren Lawrence3rd Grade
Lauren received her teaching degree from Lee University in Cleveland, TN, where she met her husband. Lauren has over 30 years of teaching experience, teaching third graders for the past 7 years. She has a passion for building relationships with her students so she can impact their lives for Christ.
Judy Brooks4th Grade
Judy Brooks has been in the classroom for almost 25 years. She is a certified educator for grades K-9 with most of her experience working in 4th and 5th grade. "Being at Brookstone has been a wonderful experience and feels like I am home. I am thrilled that I get to support students’ progress academically, socially, and spiritually. I want to help raise a generation so we don’t have to rescue a generation."
Jena Stanton4th Grade
Jena Stanton graduated from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania with a BA in Elementary Education and a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from McDaniel College in Westminster Md. This is her 20th year in Education. She moved to Charlotte 4 years ago, from Philadelphia, with her husband and 2 sons. Jena has a passion for teaching and working with children to help them grow both spiritually and academically.
Amy Beigel5th Grade
Amy Beigel graduated from Roberts Wesleyan College with a BA in Elementary Education, and she holds a Masters Degree in Elementary Reading and Mathematics. This is her eleventh year in the classroom. She has also worked with children and teens through summer camp, tutoring, Sunday School, and youth group. After college, Amy and her husband Duffy moved to Atlanta where their family participated in Mission Year, a year-long inner-city volunteer program. They are happy to return to a southern city with their four children.
Duffy Beigel5th Grade
This is Duffy Beigel’s fourteenth year teaching. He has his BA in elementary education from Roberts Wesleyan College and an MA in elementary education from Walden University. He is NC teacher certified K-5 as well as certified middle grades Social Studies. “I believe that student academic success can happen through strong relationships with students”.
Sydney SpanglerMiddle School Math
Sydney graduated from Wake Forest University with a BA in Mathematics and a minor in Secondary Education. She loves helping students learn to critically think and solve problems through teaching mathematics. She has a passion for helping students realize their capabilities and talents in order to achieve their goals in life.
Michelle KovackMiddle School Science & History
Michelle graduated from Penn State University with a BS degree in Biology+Ecology. She has been working in education/environmental education for almost 30 years. Her work has allowed her the opportunity to teach all ages around the globe. Her husband of 12 years is Mark, and she has one step-daughter, Hana, a freshman in college.
Stephanie DanciuMiddle School Language Arts
Stephanie graduated from Appalachian State University with a BS in Middle Grades Education, and a MA in Middle Grades Education with a focus in Language Arts. She loves teaching descriptive writing and bringing characters to life in the classroom. This is her sixth year of teaching middles school. She and her husband enjoy exploring Charlotte and the surrounding area.
Dr Jamie HallHistory Teacher
Originally from West Palm Beach, Florida and having lived in the Charlotte area since 2005, James has been in Christian education for more than 30 years as both a student and teacher. He received his undergraduate degree in history from Stetson University in Deland, FL and both his master's and doctoral degrees in education from Gardner-Webb University in Boilings Springs, NC. Licensed as a Curriculum Instruction Specialist in North Carolina, he has a passion for teaching early adolescents as the majority of his professional experience has been spent teaching middle school students in history and various subjects.
Donna CloudBible Teacher / NILD Therapist
Donna Cloud has a BS in Business from Johnson C. Smith University and a Master’s degree in Christian Education from Oral Roberts University. Prior to working at Brookstone, Donna taught workshops for Purity with a Purpose in Tulsa, OK, ministered overseas in Seoul, South Korea and Ghana, and worked with Super Saturday program in low income areas providing academic assistance in math, reading, writing, and language. She has been with Brookstone for thirteen years in various roles and currently serves as the Bible teacher, substitute for teachers, reading intervention teacher, and assists when needed. Donna has a heart for evangelism, education and children.
Ray Kale JacksonBible Teacher
Ray Kale Jackson majored in Early Childhood Education at Cuyahoga Community College. In the last 10 years she has served as an assistant, a lead teacher, and director of various summer and afterschool programs. Ray Kale has also worked with students with special needs. She has a passion for meeting the academic and spiritual needs of each child.
Melfrieda LoganOffice Administrator
Melfrieda joined the staff of Brookstone in 2014 after years of serving as a volunteer. She previously worked as the leader of camp and after school programs for five years at the Steele Creek YMCA. Frieda keeps students, staff, and guests smiling at Brookstone through her continual kindness and servant’s attitude.
Michelle BaldwinAlumni Relations
Jolinda Boelkins graduated from East Carolina University with a B.S. in Accounting and earned her Certified Public Accountant's license. She is mom to 3 children aged 14 to 18 - Middle School to College. She became a Lunch Buddy at Brookstone in 2010 and appreciates the passion of this school. Jolinda joined Brookstone in January 2016.
Kathee HillAdvancement Administrative Assistant
Kathee Hill has an A.A.S. in Data Processing from Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, OH. Kathee has background working in banking and education, so she is definitely an asset to us! Kathee joins Brookstone from King’s College, where she spent 13 years as the Education Coordinator/Registrar. She has lived in Charlotte for 30 years and has established deep roots, both professionally and spiritually
Star CrawfordVolunteer Coordinator
Star Crawford has a B.S. in Marketing and a Masters in Education Administration from Auburn University, and a Masters in Christian Education from Union Presbyterian Seminary. Star has a background in marketing and education, as well as, over 15 years of experience in volunteer management. Star has previously worked with Apartment Life, Church at Charlotte, and Auburn University. She has called Charlotte home since 2006 and loves everything about this city and her people. Star is passionate about education and empowering people to use their gifts to serve others!
Laura Townsend graduated from the University of Georgia with a BA in Communications. Before coming to Brookstone in 2014, she worked at a public relations agency in Charlotte on sports and lifestyle brands.
